Do you look forward to a challenge each day?Do you enjoy using your skills and learning new ones?If you said yes, then our Maintenance Mechanic role at the Town Dock might be right for you!Our Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining and repairing the Town Dock's seafood processing plant and equipment in Narragansett to ensure continuous productivity within the business.Duties:
Diagnose, repair and maintain buildings and equipment - a food facility and administrative buildingMaintain and repair lift equipment - pallet jacks, forklifts, and scissor liftsMaintain and repair production equipmentWork orders include, but not limited to mechanical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor electricalWelding skills and experience preferred, but not requiredOperate the ice plantThis includes running ice production equipment, conveying equipment, scales and pumping ice for the plant and boats.Snow removal when neededWork independently and/or with other team members depending on the workMaintain OSHA, HACCP, DOT and Food Safety regulations throughout the maintenance responsibilitiesMaintain cleanliness of the maintenance shop and work areas on the jobNormal hours 7am-4pm, with occasional requirement to answer calls after hoursCall backs and/or extended hours are required when needed; Overtime is expected.Other job related duties as assignedFor more than 40 years, The Town Dock has focused on offering both the highest quality wild-caught calamari and the very best serviceA market leader in wholesale calamari for foodservice and retail, we are located on the docks in Point Judith, RIWe offer a full suite of calamari, from certified sustainable local squid to the best imports from around the globe.The Town Dock is a family-owned company who focuses on our core values, including doing the right thing every dayWe are one of Rhode Island's Best Places to Work, receiving awards in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023! High school diploma or equivalentAbility to operate a forklift, pallet jack and scissor liftValid Driver's LicenseExperience with and understanding of pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyorsMechanical knowledge to diagnose and repair lift equipment and machineryWelding skills and experience a plusAbility to work independently and with a teamAbility to be flexible with changing prioritiesExperience in a maintenance role within a food facility is preferred, but not requiredConscientious of safety and detailOSHA training or the willingness to be trainedPhysical ability to lift 75 lbswork in confined conditions, work at heights up to 30' in lifts, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stand on feet for long periods, use hand-held and power toolsAbility to read, write and speak EnglishBasic math skills requiredA strong belief and commitment to continuous learning and improvement, positive attitude, teamwork, accountability and strong ethical behaviorCompensation details:
